Finding Smoky Bun was such a pleasant surprise! Jesse Escobedo, the pitmaster and the person serving the guests, gave us an incredible dining experience. You can immediately tell how much passion and dedication he puts into every dish. The brisket was simply phenomenal—perfectly smoked, tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. The pork belly rice was authentic, rich, and absolutely unforgettable. Every bite was thoughtfully crafted and incredibly satisfying. What makes Smoky Bun even more special is that Jesse makes almost everything from scratch (except for the bun bread). He has an incredible talent for selecting quality ingredients and combining them in ways that create a true celebration of flavors. The only advice I have is to get there early because everything sells out quickly—and after tasting the food, you’ll understand exactly why. Smoky Bun is a hidden gem that deserves all the recognition. We can’t wait to come back!

Usually a BBQ place has a couple go to items that stand above the rest. I can say that’s not the case with Smoky Buns. Their Brisket, Pork Belly Fried rice, Poblano Oaxaca Sausage, Pork Ribs, Mac Salad, and Potato Salad were all top notch quality. All of items complimented one another in a way that perfectly went together. Consistency, texture, taste; it was all just right, not overwhelming or underwhelming, it was some of the better BBQ I’ve had and the price was exceptional as well. I highly recommend this great establishment and bring your friends and family! 11/10 recommend!

We stopped in just before opening on a Friday to pick up lunch that we would eat with friends in North Austin. My first choice was pickup at Interstellar, which is great, but the hassle factor to get food there is huge. I am so glad that we tried Smokey Buns BBQ instead. I loved the relaxed and chill vibe here. The owner gave us a friendly greeting while we waited for opening. We ordered 3 brisket sandwiches, a 2 meat plate and potato salad for our sides. Everything was fantastic. The meat was moist, tender and flavorful. I loved the pickles and potato salad. My husband is very picky about potato salad and he loved it too. I had both the brisket and the pork ribs. Best ribs I have had in a long while. Our friends loved the meal too. Thanks Smokey Buns and we will be back.

The most amazing BBQ we’ve had out here! Everything was so juicy and flavorful! We got the brisket, turkey breast, and pork belly with potato salad. Everything was absolutely perfect, I just have to rave about the potato salad for a minute because it was PHENOMENAL! Nice big chunks of potatoes and eggs, just the way I like it! Outstanding food and we are so happy it’s right down the road from us. They have a cute little covered area with picnic tables onsite too. Please go try them, you won’t be disappointed. And the owner is so nice! 10000/10 cannot recommend them enough!

Amazing Brisket, Pork Belly and pork belly Fried Rice. I placed the order by mistake and it was a great experience!! Food was tasty, juicy, delicious and finger licking good. Wife was happy so that's an added bonus! Place has plenty of shaded seating, drinks, and a bathroom as well. Give this place a try and you won't regret it!!
